Give your friends a special Easter greetings bunny and beautiful poem made from a simple folded handkerchief or piece of cloth and filled with a golden egg.For you older folks this might take you back a few years. When I was little my dad showed me how to make a hankie bunny where you fold a cloth handkerchief into a little rabbit. They’re as cute as can be so I decided to show how to make them for those who might not know how. Then I took it a step further, as I tend to do, and created a very special poem to go with it. The secret “ingredient” so to speak, is a golden egg. (You’ll see why when you read the poem.)  If you’d like more Easter ideas, check out our Burlap Bunny DIY and our Cute Frameable Floppy Eared Bunny Easter Decorations.

Easter Greetings Bunny Supplies

Egg Choices:

NOTE: A 12″ handkerchief is perfect for the smaller mini plastic eggs or some of the candy eggs. Ferrero gold foil chocolate eggs are PERFECT at about 1.5″ long. Walmart carries them. The handkerchief can be slightly adjusted once the bunny is made to fit a slightly larger or smaller egg.  The key is that the egg needs to be gold which can be done in a variety of ways.

  1. Mini Plastic Eggs Fill with a a chocolate goodie then paint gold or wrap with gold foil.
  2. Foil covered candy eggs. Ferrero Eggs are the perfect size.
  3.  Any candy egg that is the right size (approx 1.5″ give or take a little) can be covered in gold foil.

Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge! If you’re looking for a small token for Valentines day or anytime, here’s cute little heart keyring you can make while saving the planet!  OK, that might be a little extreme but it does use up a plastic lid, which hopefully you grabbed by digging in your neighbors trash… those darned non-earth caring people.  I won’t mention where I got my lid but they make the cutest little keyrings rather than adding to our bulging land fills. And if you’re looking to gain even more positive Karma, place the keyring in our lovely little Soda Bottle Pillow Box. And if you’re looking to increase your Karma with the person you’re giving it to, attach a key to a new car.  Just saying.

Gather your supplies. For this first heart we’re using fabric.

Choose the size of heart you want to make from our free printable patterns.Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

Cut out a heart from the plastic lid.Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

Trim the end a little so it’s not a sharp point. Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

I used my plastic heart as a pattern for the fabric. I used a tight weave burlap for one side. You can cut your other fabric at the same time if you want.Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! Bend it over and trim it to about 1 1/2 to 2″. On the other side of the heart you will add another piece of fabric. If you have not cut it out yet do so with your pattern.Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

For the next heart we used the lid from a plastic egg carton.

We traced the heart on. Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

For this heart we added strips of Washi tape touching each other. Once they are on we cut around the heart where we had drawn. Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

Remember to round the tip a little so that it’s not sharp. Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

Turn your heart over and apply Washi tape to the back just as you did on the front. Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

You can punch a small hole into the corner of the heart to hold the ring. I had just received this nifty Crop a Dile Eyelet Punch so I decided to try it out for the first time on this heart. Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

It’s a pretty neat little gadget and you can use at least two sizes of eyelets. Punch the hole.Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

Insert the eyelet, which comes in every color of the rainbow. Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

And clamp. Done!Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

I admit it’s cool and does give it a more professional finish but had I not had this, I’d have just used a 1/8″ hole punch. Make a heart keyring as a gift for Valentine’s Day or any day! This upcycle uses a plastic lid, a split key ring & some fabric or Washi tape & Mod Podge!

Get organized with this fun huge wall calendar made with Washi tape, large sequins and Post-it notes! It's great for a home offices or a family center!

Get organized with a gigantic wall calendar!  As you might know, huge wall calendars are not only hard to find but also really expensive. Well, here’s a way to make your own using Washi tape and its not only inexpensive but a fun eye catching focal point. Ours was used in my daughter Amy’s home office but it would be equally great as a family center. It incorporates Post-it Notes and you can use smaller ones and assign each person a different color or use large ones that fill the entire block. So many choices! We did ours in black and gold but get creative! If you’re looking for other ways to get organized check out how to Organize Office Supplies in Style and our Home Office Closet Makeover!

Wall Calendar Supplies

NOTE: We tried electrical tape for the calendar as we thought it would be perfect. It was too stretchy and would not stay up on the wall.

Step By Step Instructions

Wall Calendar Frame

Something To Think About: What types and sizes of Post-it notes you want to use. i.e. small sizes for each person, a large size that fills the block etc. Some might require doing some specific math to get your boxes the right size.  You’re also using wider Washi Tape than the typical type.

  1. Pick a wall that you’ll place the calendar on.
  2. Decide how big you want the calendar. The only size limit is your wall.
  3. Measure out and lightly mark where your rectangle will be.
  4. Take your width number and divide by 7. Take that number and measure and mark across the top and bottom of your rectangle.
  5. Take your height number and divide by 5. Take that number and measure and mark down the right and left side of your rectangle.
  6. Cut your Washi Tape and lay it out along the all the lines you made.  The main calendar is now completed.

Calendar Sequin Dates

  1. Write the numbers 1 through 31 on your sequin’s with the hole on the top. These are for hanging on your days.
  2.  Lightly hammer tap in the sequin pins where you want your dates to hang out. Change them out each month!

 Calendar Days of the Week

  1. Make half circles from black paper that fit over your day columns.
  2. Place your day of the week letters on each half circle and tape it over the appropriate column using double sided tape.
  3. As everyone generally always knows what month it is we didn’t add a month label but you certainly could.

Each person needs a pencil, some strips of paper and a full sheet of blank paper. They are to write the things that they feel are holding them back on each strip of paper, one per strip. These can be things such as anger, a health issue, a bad habit etc. Anything negative they would like to get rid of.  After they write it down they hold the paper to the candle flame and light it on fire then drop it into the bowl and watch it burn. They continue doing this until they can think of nothing else to write about.

They then take their blank sheet of paper, or the Positive Future sheet from the kit, and write down everything they hope for the new year.  Once the ashes have cooled they should be buried. If there are just a very few they can be blown to the wind!

The basic supplies you need for the ceremony are a metal or glass bowl, a candle, some paper and pencils.

IMPORTANT: Candy canes break easily. HANDLE THE FINAL WITH CARE. Once you have placed them on the glue, you can only adjust them for just a second or two. So be quick! The trick is to get your candle to stand straight. If it does not, in the end you can glue a little something under one side to make it even, such as a sliver of wood, then paint it to match so it won’t show.

Gather your supplies!Make sure to keep the wrappers on your candy canes and your candles. This is because of the obvious reason. The glue will not hold to wax. Also the candy canes will melt.  Choose candy canes that are not broken. It helps to have extras.

We'll show you how to hang any wreath with a piece of ribbon and a thumbtack leaving no mark on your door! Toss in a small cork and it stores wonderfully!blank630x20

I’ve never liked putting holes in my doors and I was also never a fan of those metal or plastic over the door wreath hangers either. When I learned how to hang them with ribbon, I’ve never looked back. Then I took it a step further and created by own little system involving large thumbtacks and tiny corks for storage. I feel so organized now!  My door remains hole free and I can match my hanger if I want so it blends right in. We have a tutorial for the Peace Wreath below which I think works for any time of year, depending on how you tweak it.  We also have a Burlap Wreath made from an embroidery hoop which I think is quite clever so check that out!

Style 1: Tall Mixed Style Container

Back to top of page

We used a typical 2 Liter bottle for this one. Many of these have lines around them near the bottom or top. We use those as a base line for measuring, depending on how tall we want our container to be.  Mark your container circle into four equal parts. Then mark it where you will be folding it at.

These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Fold straight down to your marked area on each “corner” area. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Once you fold one side you can easily fold the other straight across from it. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

When you are finished you will have a perfect square on the top. The bottom of the container is the bottom of the bottle. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Cut each corner down to where you marked it. This will be how “high” the container will be.  My bottle is still too high so I’ll end of trimming the petal flaps even more. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Keep in mind that the points where you cut are VERY SHARP. They will poke and draw blood. You’ll be fixing those in a minute. But be careful in the meantime. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Fold the flaps over to the inside and crease the edges sharply using a bone folder tool or the handle of a metal butter knife to press them down.

These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!      You will now pop the flaps back out and trim them down, curving the edges. The flaps will most likely be too long. Keep trimming them evenly until they fall halfway to the middle of the container. They can barely overlap each other or almost touch.  Make a nice curved shape on the edges so they won’t poke anyone. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

This shows a completed curved edge. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

You can overlap the flaps one at a time to close them. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift! They should stay closed on their own. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

You can also punch a hole in two of the flaps for tying them together. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

The container can be held together this way also. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

I used ours for a 3 ingredient  Chocolate Fudge Recipe you can get here. This is a perfect holiday neighbor gift. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

To make it even more special, I happened upon these ornament cards from Shutterfly and fell in love with them.  They are 50% off and typically stay that way during the holidays. There are many choices and you get to customize both sides and even add a photo if desired, which I did. Attach one to your gift and it doubles as a card/tag for neighbors and friends.  (I love it when companies make me look good for a low cost.)These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Hey, who’s that good looking dude I’m with?  This is the back side of the Shutterfly card /tag. Their online system lets you design it up very easily. You can add all kinds of text in a huge variety of styles.  (FYI, the tag I used is called “Merry Chalkboard Berries”.  Again, it’s one of their Ornament Cards.  Brilliant idea. christmas-gift-wrapping-ideas-using-soda-bottles-44blank630x20

Style 2: Small Petal Box

Back to top of page

I used a tall slim 32oz bottle for this one though any size will work. (Walmart has a wonderful slim tall 33oz size in their own brand that I use for quite a few crafts for 88 cents each.) Mark the bottle as high as you want it and cut around. In this case I cut off quite a bit as I wanted a fairly short gift container. The flaps themselves will only be 1.5″ or so long. The rest  will be the height you wish the bottle to be.

These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

For the petals you need six flaps, so measure around and divide the bottle into six even sections and mark accordingly. (Finally… that math you took in school comes in handy!)  In all honesty it does NOT have to be exactly even. I eyeballed it to tell you the truth. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Remember, because we are making a short bottle we used the line that was already at the base of the bottle as our guide line  to cut down to. Had that not been there we would have measured and marked around it with a dry erase marker. If you wanted the container taller you would just need to measure up from that line and cut higher.

Cut down to your base line. Also remember that those edges are sharp until you curve them! The petals will need to fold over about half way into the middle of the bottle. Trim them if they are too long. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Bend over each of the six flaps to the inside and press firmly with a bone folder, as you see me using, or a butter knife handle to get a nice clean edge. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Pull the flaps back out and trim around the sharp pointed edges making rounded petal shapes. You can draw on with a dry erase marker first if you’d like a pattern to follow. Remember, dry erase marker wipes right off when you’re done! These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

After your petals are trimmed and creased you can fold them one at a time, overlapping each, and they will close over the top. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

This is the finished container.

These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

It can hold not only treats but small gifts. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Since we made this at Christmas time, the more we looked at this one the more we thought it resembled the bottom of Santa’s pants. So we added a black ribbon belt. We toyed with the idea of a big red pom pom or a white bow. The bow won out.

These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

We  painted black on the four bumps to signify the boot parts and added a paper buckle. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!blank630x20christmas-gift-wrapping-ideas-using-soda-bottles-38

blank630x20

Style 3: Square Box

Back to top of page

This next container was made from another tall 32 oz bottle though you’d never know it!  Measure and cut off both ends of your bottle making it the size you want. Then measure around making four even marks using a dry erase marker and crease each one as shown on above bottles. Make sure to get a nice sharp crease. I love using my bone folder for that but anything hard will work.

These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

This shows two of the the nice creases. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift! Now you’ve got a complete square. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

For the bottom flaps you need to measure up on each corner. For my small container I measured up about 1.5″  then cut. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Fold them over like the top part and crease. Again, remember the points are very sharp. Overlap them to close and seal. The bottom could actually be glued if desired to keep it together. Round the very tips of the pointy parts for safety. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Curve the four top flaps either on just the edges or you can also make petal shapes if desired. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Overlap them to close the top. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

We added a bit of gold Washi tape around the middle. These upcycled plastic soda bottles make unique Christmas gift wrapping ideas and are perfect for our healthy chocolate fudge recipe as a neighbor gift!

Two small holes were punched  in two of the flaps to tie on a matching gold ribbon and bell. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

This rustic little tree is made with six plastic hangers, some twinkle lights and burlap. It’s a great little, easy upcycle project and would make a perfect tree for a small family or an extra tree for another room in the home. Set it in a window and light it up for a beautiful eye catcher as people drive by. Make some of our rustic Twig & Twine Wooden Reindeer to go with it or adorn it with Christmas Spiders. Now that would be unique!

Burlap Christmas Tree Supplies

NOTE ON BURLAP: Use tight weave burlap. We bought a roll of 12″ at Walmart that had silver threads running through it. It was 10′ long. We cut it into two 6″ strips and it just did one tree. However, we did not overlap ours very much going up. In retrospect I would have put them a little closer, which means I would have needed a bit more.  You can also use thinner strips but you will also have to use more burlap to cover the tree that way.

You are going to take two hangers and lay them as shown on top of each other. I’m using a blue and white one so you can see how they lay out easier.

Cut some chenille stems for tying your hangers together. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Tie them in the spots shown. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Two on each side and one on the top. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Make three sets like this. These form the three sides of your tree. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

You will not attach the side together using more chenille stems plus the ones already attached. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

The side ones can be twisted together if you left them long enough. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

If the side pieces are too small you can just add more chenille stems. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

You will now attach the top parts together using new chenille stems as shown. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Attach the three together, twisting the chenille stems tightly. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

This is how it will stand up once it’s secured. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Taking a 3rd piece of chenille stem, tie the entire thing together. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Tie it together at the bottom also. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Here is your tree base! We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Get your burlap ready. We used a 12″ by 10′ piece. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

We folded it in half and cut it so each piece is 6″ wide. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Cut a few more pieces of chenille stems for attaching your lights to your frame. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Weave your lights in and out around your frame. You would also put them into the center but I was concerned they would not be bright enough to show through. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Attach your lights where needed to keep them from slipping. You can also hot glue your chenille stems in place to help. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Keep weaving your lights around, in and out and down. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

As I tried to push a big wad of the lights through my frame it broke one of my hangers. I tied it back together with a chenille stem and held it with hot glue. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Keep in mind all of the lights that stick out will be pushed to the inside as you cover your frame with burlap. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Make the frame more sturdy by gluing the sides together in places as shown. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

More gluing. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

I ironed my 6″ piece in half for a nice sharp edge then cut up in 1″ slits about 1″ from the top. ONLY CUT ONE LAYER.We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

This shows how I only cut one layer. This assures that the frame does not show through. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Begin gluing your burlap around your frame. You will cut each side piece separate and wrap it around for gluing. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Make sure each side is glued well. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Overlap each piece as you go around so none of the frame shows through. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Push the lights into the back if they stick out too much. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

After you have done one row move onto the next, overlapping. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Keep going around as before, overlapping the sides. As you can see, I didn’t cut enough on one row and the frame showed through. See the next photo for the fix. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

I cut a single strip to cover the open spot. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

As you get closer to the top you will  need smaller strips. Near the very top one strip will cover three sides and possibly all four. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Usually, one last piece will wrap around the top completely. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

You will have to curve it in a way that it makes the point. Make sure you aim the back of it towards the actual back of your tree. We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

You can now glue on your bells. Do this while the tree is on its side as the glue will run. Also, metal is a heat conductor so use something to help hold the bells as they will be hot from the hot glue as you hold them! We'll show you how to make the prettiest little rustic upcycled burlap Christmas tree you've ever seen using six hangers. Add bells & a star to complete it.

Promote the meaning of the season with this Christmas Peace Wreath using some inexpensive garland, burlap, a foam board and hot glue. It's simple and quick!

What’s more festive at Christmas than a wreath and what fits the meaning of Christmas more than a Christmas peace wreath complete with a peace on earth quote? All you need is some inexpensive garland, some burlap, hot glue and foam board. You could even use cardboard for the wreath base instead of foam board. We also show you the best way ever to hang wreaths that doesn’t use a wreath hanger and doesn’t put a nail hole in your door! While you’re here, check out our Twig & Twine Wooden Reindeer and our Poinsettia Christmas Placemats!

Christmas Peace Wreath Supplies

NOTES: Cardboard can be used in place of foam board.

  • Foam Board 20″ x 30″
  • X-acto Knife
  • Scotch Tape for pattern
  • Scissors
  • 24 feet green garland  This is all Amazon currently had in stock. We purchased a 50 foot batch at Walmart for $8. You can try the Dollar store too.
  • Burlap 12 plus 2 feet burlap, 2″ to 4″ wide. We used a glittery type similar to this one.
  • Brown Twine
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Large Thumb Tacks (I use the large for hanging all my wreaths though regular tacks can work but are less strong. They are an awesome, no-nail way to hang a wreath!)
  • Tiny Cork I buy a package and use the tiny ones for my wreath storage purposes. They are perfect as you will see below!
  • Small gold or copper Christmas balls –  Check out the Dollar Store for these.
  • Small wood plaque 3.5″x 5″ These sizes were the best fit, however we supplied quotes for a variety of sizes.
  • Gold Paint
  • Mod Podge
  • Printable quote below

InstructionsPromote the meaning of the season with this Christmas Peace Wreath using some inexpensive garland, burlap, a foam board and hot glue. It's simple and quick!

You will need two pieces of 12 foot garland and one piece of 12 foot burlap. They will be braided so you will need to hold them together on one end. I used a binder clip tied to a chair to help out. Promote the meaning of the season with this Christmas Peace Wreath using some inexpensive garland, burlap, a foam board and hot glue. It's simple and quick!

Because you will be dealing with extra long amounts of items, you can wind them up if needed while you are braiding them. It is, however, very helpful to have one or two other people help you.Promote the meaning of the season with this Christmas Peace Wreath using some inexpensive garland, burlap, a foam board and hot glue. It's simple and quick!

Because our burlap was so wide we opted for a different type of braid. I’m not sure what it is called but we took a video of it below so you can see how we did it. You can use whatever type of braid you like, just make sure to not make it super tight. Promote the meaning of the season with this Christmas Peace Wreath using some inexpensive garland, burlap, a foam board and hot glue. It's simple and quick!

Here is a video showing how we “braided” ours.

Next you will print out your peace sign wreath pattern and tape it together.

After taping it together, cut it out. Promote the meaning of the season with this Christmas Peace Wreath using some inexpensive garland, burlap, a foam board and hot glue. It's simple and quick!

Place your pattern over your foam board or cardboard and trace it. Promote the meaning of the season with this Christmas Peace Wreath using some inexpensive garland, burlap, a foam board and hot glue. It's simple and quick!

Using an X-acto knife cut out your pattern. You are welcome to paint your cardboard or foam board to make it match better. The goal, however, will be to make sure that your braid covers the peace sign entirely so that none of it shows through. Promote the meaning of the season with this Christmas Peace Wreath using some inexpensive garland, burlap, a foam board and hot glue. It's simple and quick!

You will start to hot glue your braid onto the foam board, again, making sure it covers the peace sign completely. christmas-peace-wreath-15

Make sure to use enough glue to hold the braid down.Promote the meaning of the season with this Christmas Peace Wreath using some inexpensive garland, burlap, a foam board and hot glue. It's simple and quick!

Once you have completed the circle you will carefully cut off your braid and tack the end with glue. You will use the remaining parts to make the peace sign feet, gluing them on as you did the circle. christmas-peace-wreath-18

Make these elegant poinsettia Christmas placemats using a large piece of felt, some artificial poinsettias and hot glue. They also make a great centerpiece!

These elegant poinsettia Christmas placemats can also be used as centerpieces or even wall hangings! All you need is a 12″ piece of square felt and some fake poinsettias and a hot glue gun. They are  easy to make and would be great as a gift. In fact, you could hang one on your front door! These are exactly the same as our Quick Leafy Autumn Placemats we made for Thanksgiving using leaves we got at the local Dollar, store proving yet again that decor doesn’t have to be expensive to be classy!  FYI you may notice that  little white reindeer in the photo from a previous post. Learn how to make those simple Twig & Twine Wooden Reindeer here!

NOTES: I used a 12″ x 18″ piece of red felt and made a 12″ circle for the base.

  • Artificial Poinsettia (One 12″ circle took two large bunches from Walmart @$3.00 a bunch with some left over. Check the dollar stores or sales at craft stores! You need big leaves preferably.
  • Large Felt  This was the best deal Amazon had but it’s a variety of colors.I I suggest purchasing a single sheet locally if you can unless you need to stock up.

These festive little wooden reindeer are a mix of modern and rustic style and only require some tiny branches off your tree. Add twine and a bell and they're complete! These festive little wooden reindeer are a mixture of modern and rustic style and only require some tiny branches off your tree. Add twine and a bell and they’re complete! The best part is you can make them any size. And I mean any size. We made small 5″ ones but you could even make them from logs if you were so inclined!  If you enjoy doing this, you might also like our unique little stand up Christmas Countdown from Wood Slices.

NOTES ON GLUE: For the tiny reindeer, I used hot glue in the essence of time. This is actually not a good idea if your branches have bark on them as mine did because the sticks will pull the bark off easily. Either use sticks without bark or use larger branches and drill holes to place your sticks into for a firm hold. For larger reindeer I’d suggest a drill and wood glue.

These quick autumn placemats were made from a piece of felt and fall leaves purchased at the dollar store. They turned a fall table into something elegant!

We made these beautiful autumn placemats from a large sized piece of felt and some fall leaves we had previously purchased at the dollar store. I say we because this was my daughters inspiration and my implementation.. We were both amazed at how gorgeous it turned out.  It can be used alone or for a Thanksgiving dinner or fall event. They are so inexpensive guests could even take them home and use them as doilies. If you’d like another fun idea using these same leaves, check out our Gratitude Jar which is a lovely decor item plus a perfect Thanksgiving activity. I wanted to use as much of the felt sheet as I could so I tested several large plates and as it turned out my deviled egg platter was exactly 12″ wide and perfect. I turned it upside down and traced my circle on. These quick autumn placemats were made from a piece of felt and fall leaves purchased at the dollar store. Cut out your circle.

Starting on the outside, use a small dot of glue at the center base of each leaf and glue them on, overlapping just enough so none of the felt shows through. Once you finish one circle, move to the next inner circle. These quick autumn placemats were made from a piece of felt and fall leaves purchased at the dollar store. They turned a fall table into something elegant!

You don’t want the leaves to lay completely flat so remember to just use one dot of glue. These quick autumn placemats were made from a piece of felt and fall leaves purchased at the dollar store. They turned a fall table into something elegant!

Continue as before, overlapping each leaf just enough to make sure the felt does not show through. These quick autumn placemats were made from a piece of felt and fall leaves purchased at the dollar store. They turned a fall table into something elegant!

You will eventually work your way to the center at which point you will only needed one to three leaves to cover it. NOTE: If you find there any spots where the felt does indeed show through, just cut a leaf down and glue a piece of it behind the other leaves and over the spot just enough to cover it. I had to do that on three spots. Works perfectly! These quick autumn placemats were made from a piece of felt and fall leaves purchased at the dollar store. This is the finished placemat! It could also be used as a doily. These quick autumn placemats were made from a piece of felt and fall leaves purchased at the dollar store. They turned a fall table into something elegant!

Being Thankful Reminder Token Supplies

  • Printables Below
  • Small hole punch I prefer a 1/8″ size for string.  A regular size will work but the hole may need to be punched a bit further up into the petal or raindrop.
  • String or Chain or Key Ring that snaps open
  • White Cardstock  This is what I keep in stock at home. Its 110 lb very bright so its heavy. You can buy smaller packs that are not quite as heavy though I do like heavier weight cardstock for this type for project.

The packet also comes with a page each of blanks in case you want to come up with your own questions.

Remind family and visitors to keep negative thoughts outside your home with this beautiful poem and tribal burden basket that you hang on your front porch.

Burden baskets come from various Native American culture. They were used for gathering crops and once a woman returned home she would hang her basket on the front door. Native American’s consider their home a sacred space and the basket was a symbol that visitors were to leave all worries, anger and other negative emotions in the basket before entering in order to protect the space. The saying “leave your burdens at the door” originated from these baskets.
