Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? And you get the free instructions below plus a list of words to pick from.  Catch your breath from all this excitement, then grab you some gloves and get busy!

NOTE ON FABRIC GLUE: After a lot of research I use Beacons fabric glue because it has the highest reviews.

Instructions

NOTE: You do need to treat your gloves with care and don’t stretch out the finger holes anymore than necessary. The Frey Check helps a lot but they are still knit gloves and will pull apart if you are too rough with them. Just use a gentle “hand” so to speak.

These are the supplies needed for the Puffy Paint Power Texting Gloves. Gloves, Fray Check and Puffy Paint of choice.

Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

These are the supplies you will need for the string text gloves. Gloves, Fray Check Fabric Glue and heavy String. Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

Begin by cutting off the tips of the gloves where they start to curve.Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

Carefully put them on and see where they fall on your fingers. This lets you know if any need trimmed. You want to be extra careful at this stage to not stretch the ends out as they will fray easily at this point.Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

The pinky finger needed trimmed as you could see so I trimmed it a little. Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

You then want to test them, again being careful to stretch them out as little as possible, to make sure they work fine for texting. Trim more if needed.Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

Once one glove is trimmed to the exact length needed, lay it over the other glove and trim it to match. Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

Find a slim object you can stick your gloves over to hold them up while you put the Fray Check on the ends of each finger. I used two small spray cans.Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

Make sure each finger hole is spread out.Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

It’s now time to pull out the Fray Check which is perfect for things like this. Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

You will run a bead of Fray Check around the edge of each finger hole. Don’t be afraid to rub it in as you go with the tip of the applicator. Put plenty on. If the end of any finger is curved under slightly make sure to pull it up so you can coat the area that has been cut. Fray Check dries quickly. Go over the ends again if needed to make sure you get a good coat around it. Do this on both gloves. Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

Make sure the tips don’t touch each other and stay open so they don’t stick together from the Fray Check as it dries, which takes only minutes. Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

For the puffy paint text I suggest practicing on paper first then apply your text to the four fingers. MAKE SURE TO DO IT THE RIGHT DIRECTION. Puffy paint normally takes about 4 hours to dry lying flat. Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

For the string words, cut pieces of string for the words you choose.Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

You’ll want to make the words in sections as I did with the M. I laid all my words out ahead of time to make sure they were the correct size.Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

Once all your letters are cut, grab your fabric glue. Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? DIY Power Texting Gloves to the rescue!

Glue where the letters will be placed and attach them. Do you love to text? Are your hands cold? Do you get tired of taking gloves on and off to do said texting? If you’re looking for some quick Halloween costume extra’s or just some Gothic jewelry, you can make these in about 10 minutes with a hot glue gun! They look awesome and kids and adults both can wear them. We’ve got patterns for a variety of styles or you can make up your own.  And if you’re looking for more crafts that feature hot glue, check out our Creepy Halloween Decor Black Candles and our Hot Glue Glitter Leaves DIY Fall Decorations!

About Teflon Sheets: These things are awesome! You can buy them for cooking, dehydrating and crafting. They are inexpensive and reusable. I have two for crafting and you can work with hot glue, paint and all types of mediums and they clean right off. Excellent for crafters. Some are thicker than others. I used my thin one for this project because you can trace through it.

  • Hot Glue Gun  (Use low temp if kids are involved. The one linked to that I use is dual temp.)
  • Teflon sheet (This is one I own. It’s a 16″x24″)  You could use foil but you can’t trace through it, obviously.
  • Paint, or Spray Paint  (Whatever you choose to color them with}
  • Extra Fine Glitter (optional)
  • String

Good Vibes Necklace

Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too! blank630x20

Here’s a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too! Its’ made from inexpensive Shrinky Dink sheets that are colored with permanent markers.

Even as an adult I find Shrinky Dinks’ a little magical.  Color, cut them out and then pop them into an over for 1 to 3 minutes and watch in awe as they shrink up and leave these tiny charms.  Attach them to a chain and you’re styling in no time.  One thing is for sure, all of us can use more good vibes!

We’ve got some other fun necklaces also.  Check out DIY Necklace for Someone You Love and our Pixel Heart Necklace.  And you won’t believe what this Locket Necklace is made from!

blank630x20Instructions

IMPORTANT: DO A TEST RUN: It’s always a good idea to make a test heart first. This lets you know how they will work in your oven  and how long it should take. It also lets you make sure the hole placement is correct for the chain used.  You don’t want to do them all at once and find the hole should have been in a different spot!

This is the brand we purchased. It was $6 for 10 large sheets.

Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20

Lay a clear sheet over the heart and color it in with permanent marker of choice. These need to be lighter colors.  (We had to redo the purple hearts as they were too dark once they shrunk up.)  Color nine hearts. Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20

After the ink has dried lay the hearts over the pattern again and outline them in black. Then lay each one over the letters and color them in black.  FYI we used hand drawn letters for ours. The letters on the printable will be a little different. Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20

Cut out the hearts. Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20

The hearts are ready for punching holes into.  As mentioned, we ended up redoing the purple hearts because when they shrunk they were too dark to read.  Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20

Using a 1/8″ hole punch, place a hole on the side of a heart. Use this heart as a template to mark the others as shown below. Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20

Lay the first heart that is punched over each of the others and make a dot where the holes will be. This assures they are all lined up exactly. Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20 Heat an oven to 325 degrees. It MUST be preheated before placing the hearts in. Lay the hearts out on foil spacing them apart from each other.  Place them in the oven and watch them through the oven window if possible. Otherwise take a peek every minute.  They will curl up at first but flatten out towards the end. It only takes 1 to 3 minutes. Ours took the full three minutes to shrink completely and flatten.  FYI Some might still have a curve to them. We’ll show you how to correct that below. Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20

This is right out of the oven. They shrink up about 2/3rds on size and become very thick. Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20

As soon as they come out of the oven take a spatula and press down quickly on any that are curled. This must be done before they cool, otherwise they will crack if pressed on.  Guess how we learned that? ÜHere's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20

A variety of chains can be used. We chose a larger loop and used the links themselves to attach each heart. Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20

Using small needle nosed pliers bend apart the chain links to attach the hearts. We placed two chain links between each heart. Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! This chunky good vibes necklace is sure to turn heads. What a great gift too!blank630x20 Here's a fun piece of statement jewelry you can make for very little! Clothespin Necklace Holder

Clothespin Necklace Holder blank630x20

It’s an organizer and  a craft!  BONUS! I used a left over wood plaque from my Bell Jar project but you can get these plaques at craft stores super cheap. I’ve seen them at dollar stores too. I spray painted clothespins silver then glued on some jewels I’d saved from a broken bracelet.  Then you attach a picture hanger on the back to mount it on the wall.  You can use longer pieces of wood if you want it to hold more.  Just cut it the length you want, paint and add clothespins!  (You’ll notice it’s holding some of my clothespin spring necklaces!)

Supplies

  • Wood Plaque
  • Clothespins
  • Hot Glue
  • Paint and gems etc.blank630x20

Paint your plaque whatever color you like.  Paint your clothespins a contrasting color. Glue them onto the board. Add decor items if desired. Add a picture hanger onto the back of the board so you can hang it on the wall.

Clothespin Spring Necklaces

Clothespin Spring Necklace blank630x20

Yes, you can use laundry items to make a pretty necklace! Some chain, clothespins springs and beads are all it takes. (I used a jewel from an old broken bracelet for one of them.)    I’m a t-shirt and jeans kinda gal and these spice up my casual wear perfectly!  Just be prepared to tell others how you made your unique necklace.

soda.bottle.bracelets.9aYou won’t believe what these beautiful bracelets are made from.  A plastic soda bottle and some scraps. I could have made about 50 of them they are so quick and easy.  Ahhh… I can see it now.  A whole wardrobe of colorful bracelets to match any outfit. (If this were food my mouth would be watering.)  Its a wonderful way to upcycle those soda bottles. Kids and adults alike will love them!

I found these are perfect for closing your bracelets though there are a variety of ways you can do that.  The 15 to 16 mm size Crimp works quite well. They are aprox. 5/8″ wide. If you’re making very thin or very thick bracelets adjust as needed as they come in a variety of sizes. I found these items are much cheaper purchased separately. You can get a package of each at craft stores or any department store with a craft area.

Tutorial

Remove the label from your bottle. (It does not have to have all the residue removed for this project.) Cut even strips for your bracelets. I made mine about 1/2″ with some a little smaller and some a little larger.

soda.bottle.bracelets.1blank

soda.bottle.bracelets.3blank

You can either cut or tear strips of material. I made mine about 1/2″ wide.  Make them a long as possible but you can add pieces easily if you need more .
soda.bottle.bracelets.4blank

There are two ways to attach the material to your bracelet. I found the hot glue method works great. Just put some hot glue on the inner end and attach your fabric. Wrap and secure again at the other end.
soda.bottle.bracelets.5blank
You can also use Mod Podge and coat your bracelet and wrap. I did not find this to be any better than hot gluing however.
soda.bottle.bracelets.2blank

You can wrap the fabric two ways. Flat as shown above or by rolling the fabric as you go as seen below. Both look great.
soda.bottle.bracelets.16blank

Once you’re finished you can trim the ends a little bit if needed and add your pinch crimps on each side.

soda.bottle.bracelets.7blank
I used a hammer to tap mine down firmly.
soda.bottle.bracelets.6blankAttach a jump ring to one side and a lobster clasp to the other side.
soda.bottle.bracelets.8blank
For one of my bracelets I use an awl to punch holes on each side and inserted a string to tie the bracelet together.

Quick Fleece Arm Warmers

blank630x20

arm.warmers-1

These are so cozy and feel so good against your skin and it only takes about 20 minutes to whip up a pair.  You can adorn them however you wish with buttons, ribbons, appliques etc. Fleece comes in a huge variety of colors and patterns so you could literally have a wardrobe of arm warmers. I use them in the early winter mornings as I keep my house a bit cool. I almost don’t want to take them off when it warms up!

I sewed the sides on my sewing machine but I ended up sewing the hems by hand as I liked the look much better. Because you are working with fleece you don’t actually need to hem them as you can see in the example of the pink arm warmer below.  There is a free download of the pattern that also includes the instructions. blank.640x25

Materials Needed

  • Download the pattern provided below. This is for a normal size adult female arm. You can adjust it if needed.
  • 1/2 yard stretchy type fleece.
  • Buttons or anything else you’d like to adorn them with.
  • Scissors / Thread / Sewing Needle / Sewing Machine

Instructions

Image1Cut out your pattern. Tape the bottom part onto the top pattern. (You can make shorter ones if you prefer.)

Cut out 2 sets from your material. The pattern is made for a 1/3″ to 1/2″ seam allowance.  You can adjust if needed.

NOTE: As fleece is so cheap I actually made a test arm warmer  to make sure they would fit OK and see if I needed to adjust the pattern.

Sew the sides together and the area between the thumb and hand opening. Trim the inside seams to about 1/4″ to reduce bulk.

NOTE: When sewing the thumb opening you may want to make that one about 1/3″ and taper out as you sew down the sides. It’s a fairly close fit. You can always take in a little more if needed.

After sewing the sides and small area between thumb and hand opening turn the warmers inside out.

HEMMING: These can be hemmed by machine, by hand or left raw. I decided to hem mine by hand on the thumb, hand and arm opening.  I had tested doing one with the sewing machine and didn’t care for the look near as well as the hand hem.  You also have the option to not do a hem as fleece does not ravel. Just cut off about 1/2″ from all openings if you decide to keep the raw edge.

 Visual Steps

NOTE: I’m not a seamstress by any stretch of the imagination. So you may know easier or more professional ways to do some of these things. Please adapt to your own skill level!

You can hem the three openings in various ways or leave them raw as fleece does not ravel. I chose to hand hem mine as I preferred that look the best. Choose whatever method you like. (The thumb piece will be tricky to hem on a machine due to how small it is. Hemming it by hand was much easier.)

Make these simple Halloween jewelry pieces from polymer clay! So easy anyone can do it! They can be used for necklaces, earrings, key chains pins and more! blank630x20

I’ve never worked with clay as I always assumed it would take a great deal of artistic skill. Ends up it doesn’t. Once I started I got hooked! Its so simple to do and the clay is very forgiving. You make simple shapes then bake them at 275 for 15 minutes and its done. You can coat your items with any shiny stuff you want and paint on any other flourishes.  I whipped all these up in a matter of minutes each.  I made a variety of Halloween jewelry with them… necklaces, pins, key rings etc.

blank11Cutting

For Manual Cutting: The pixel heart necklace pdf has several of each size heart but you only need to cut out ONE of the size of your choice to use for a pattern. Trace the one you cut out onto the cardstock several times and cut carefully with the knife, including cutting out the hole.  I used 5 hearts for mine and it was a great thickness. You can add more or less if desired.

Silhouette Cutter: If you own a Silhouette download the appropriate file and remove the sizes you do not want in your Silhouette software and cut out the rest.

blank11

To Assemble

Spread a thin layer of glue between each heart until it is as thick as desired.  Let it dry.   Coat with Mod Podge if desired for a sheen finish.  Insert string or chain.
