IMPORTANT: Make sure to read the actual case at the bottom of this post. It’s from a reader who tried a varied bartholin cyst home treatment version with great success!

This post is for the gals and if you have this condition, you definitely know what it is. A Bartholin cyst is very painful and difficult to treat and many women have had little success with traditional medicine. Well, we’ve got a Bartholin Cyst home treatment that is inexpressive and easy to do and it works.

This treatment was used by someone I know personally and I followed along with them during the entire duration of their condition. I’ll tell you the details of her experience and how she was able to virtually cure her Bartholin cyst naturally. As usual, we remind you that everyone is different and your success may differ. However, this is an inexpensive and very safe treatment to test. It’s certainly much less painful and intrusive than the standard medical treatments which many times don’t help at all.

WHERE TO GET TREATED
One of our awesome followers said that Planned Parenthood would treat a Bartholin cyst. So if you decide to go the medical route and have no insurance give them a call. (I’ve not verified this myself.)

Bartholin Cyst: What It Is (The nitty gritty details)

The Bartholin glands are in a woman’s genitals located on both sides of the folds of the labia that surround the vagina. These glands secrete a small amount of fluid. If a Bartholin duct gets blocked, fluid builds up in the gland and it creates a cyst. These cysts can typically be pea sized to marble size and are generally not treated as long as there are no unpleasant symptoms. They can also go away by themselves unless they are so large they cause discomfort. However, the cyst can becomes infected and it will slowly grow larger up to the size of an egg and become very painful. The typical treatment is to cut the cyst open under local anesthesia and drain it which is incredibly painful to have done. But as they seldom heal the problem, it tends to come back requiring further draining.  Note: The following is a drawing of the location of the cyst and how it looks.  (Graphic)

Symptoms of a cyst that is not infected
• A lump in the area.
• Redness or swelling in the area.
• Discomfort when you sit, walk, or have sex.

Symptoms of an infected cyst include:
• It becomes more and more painful.
• Fever and chills.
• Swelling in the area.
• The cyst can drain.

Stress is the #1 contributor to Bartholin Cysts and a poor diet is the #2 contributor (as in lots of meat, dairy, sugar and processed foods.) blank630x20

Case #1 Bartholin cyst home treatment

My friend who experienced this went to her doctor numerous times as her cyst kept coming back. She had it drained four times which was a very unpleasant experience. The only other option she was given was to have the duct surgically closed, because having it repeatedly drained will eventually lead to scar tissues building up.  However, she had read about many women who had that done and they said it caused other problems afterwards and the cyst even came back on occasion. So her quest was to find a way to naturally heal it.

Here are a few things she found that were suggested that she tried and  that did not work:

  • Drawing Salve
  • Epsom Salts baths
  • Sillica
  • Tea Tree and Lavender Oil
  • Homeopathics

The Cure

My friend finally read an in-depth article on using Apple Cider Vinegar. The information she found said it would take three full months to work. She hated the taste of vinegar so she bought Vinegar capsules and took two capsules three times a day.  It was at the exact three month mark when her cyst went down tremendously from the size of a quarter to the size of a dime and her symptoms stopped. Though a small cyst was still there the infection was gone. She continues to take the vinegar capsules. Her next step is to change her diet to a more plant based one which will most likely remove it completely.

NOTE: Along with the vinegar she was supposed to take 1tb of the Black Strap Molasses once a day, but after a few days gave it up as it tasted awful.

WHAT TO TAKE

  • Apple Cider Vinegar Capsules,  2 Capsules 3x a day with meals   (The link is the exact brand she used.)
  • Take a daily Vitamin C or drink orange juice as the citrus helps your body absorb the vinegar.
  • Black Strap Molasses 1 TB a day (She didn’t take this,  but her cyst still went down. It was strongly suggested in the remedy she had researched.)

Remember, everyone is different and your results may differ. Make sure to be patient. It takes THREE MONTHS to work. But it’s virtually painless and simple to do.  Good luck and be well!

READER CASES OF HEALING A BARTHOLIN CYST

This post recevies regular comments, some of which reader’s found someting the worked to get rid of their own cysts. I’ll add to this list anyone who posts something they say worked for them.

Reader Case #1 Bartholin cyst home treatment

NOTE: I received this information from someone who got rid of their Bartholin Cyst with a partially different method, as our exact method didn’t work for her.
(Edited for spelling & grammar).  (2017)

I was trying this, but didn’t helped.Mine was growing and becoming painful. I had  antibiotics which actually didn’t helped very much either and had a catheter. That  helped to clean it (but it depends on a doctor and how well he/she can placed it). But after a while it came back (I had 8 cysts during 4 months!) So what helped me: I have changed the diet (eating more alkaline), had for two weeks grapeseeds extract (mine was strong. read below)- increasing every day the dosage, and once that was done had two weeks black walnut hulls tincture  (1 tsp at the morning and evening 20 minutes before eating).  Do not take this for more than a month. So now it’s almost 3 months no cysts! But I will repeat pretty soon again with black walnut hulls tincture (it’s known by very high dosage of vitamin C, natural antibiotic and etc). Apple vinegar is very alkaline, what is good for health. But think once the Bartholin cyst is not at the beginning stage that will probably not help.

  • You need no more than 8oz of the Black Walnut Hull Tincture to do1 tsp morning and night for two weeks. It’s fairly expensive on Amazon.  Ebay has a much cheaper version which is what this gal used. The shop has good reviews. You would need just an 8oz size.
  • The grapeseed extract (I’M VERIFYING IF SHE MEANT GRAPEFRUIT SEED EXTRACT WHICH I BELIEVE SHE DID. I”LL VERIFY ONCE I HEAR BACK FROM HERE 1/20/2018) I used was over 90% (I haven’t found the same here in USA, to I have been sent from Europe- Citrocept). So I think I started with 15 drops and think was having it 3 times per day and adding 5 more days every day until 50 drops.

Reader Case #2 Bartholin Cyst Home Treatment

NOTE: This is another comment I received from someone who used a different method to get rid of their small cyst.  (Edited for spelling & grammar).  (2019)

“I had a small one the past 2 days but it was starting to get hurtful/irritating. I picked up serrapeptase, ginger root (pills), CoQ10  and l-arginine. I took these as recommended starting yesterday morning, could feel relief in the first few hours and woke up today with it completely gone!”

Reader Case #3 Bartholin Cyst Home Treatment

Yet another reader who left a comment detailing what worked for her.

I have been getting these cysts for the last 3 years. I’ve gone through the lancing, packing, and have even had surgery one my left side that didn’t end up being successful. I’ve had over 20 of these things and my last cyst in April was the first one that I was able to self heal and rid myself of my cyst. I actually am feeling a cyst starting now, so that’s why I’m here! To help everyone. Hoping my method helps at least one person!

Ok you need:
Pride drawing salve
Castor oil
Gauze pads

What I did:
I covered a piece of gauze in prod and topped it off with castor oil and place it directly on the cyst (inside of my labia) and put a pantry liner and underwear on and went about my day. I replaced the gauze with a fresh one about 4 hours later and went to bed with it. Woke up and cleaned myself and repeated once more. I was curious about two hours later, so checked and there was a small head, I touched it and bam! It started draining. hope this truly helps someone on this thread one day!

Reader Case #4

I’ve had 4 Bartholin cysts in the past 6 years. I didn’t know what to do with the first one, so it got bad. By the time I got to the gyno, he lanced me within 60 seconds of him coming in the room and immediately hospitalized me for several days. He had me on lots of antibiotics. The 2nd one I went to the gyno and got antibiotics right away. I was doing a lot of home remedies and it drained on it’s own (with lots of prayer too!) The 3rd one was so painful and hard that I could barely walk. It was definitely abscessed. I heard that Bentonite clay worked for someone else, so I tried it and it drained painlessly in less than 24 hours! Here’s what I did- I made a clay paste with water ( don’t use a metal spoon- I use my finger to mix it). Get the paste as liwuidy as you can but the clay still needs to hold together. Then I put it right on my cyst and the area around it. About an inch thick. Then cover it with a cloth and let it sit til I can’t hold my pee anymore. I did that for a few hours and then overnight. I did a few the next day and formed a head and drained. What a relief!!

Reader Case #5

I have had this 3 times in a year the first time had drained. Second time drained and left open. Both procedures excruciating. It came back again, to the size of a golf ball. I was due to go into surgery and did my own research. I was in so much pain I could not walk.
I mixed:
Magnesium sulfate
Bentonite clay
Lucas papaw

Mixed into a paste and spread all over cyst, then mixed rest with pure water and soaked gauze in it and laid over the top.
With in 2 hours it had burst and released all liquid (not nice) but pain was gone instantly!
I ware a pad over night and repeated the next day.
Cyst has totally emptied.
I then applied the papaw for couple of days to help heal.
Surgery was cancelled. After going through two before I can not believe how much easier and pain free this method was. No recovery, no hospital stay.
I really hope this helps someone as the doctors did not suggest anything of the kind just straight in for surgery.
It cost me £12 all ingredients can be bought from amazon.
I would suggest anyone to try this before having the surgery

  1. You’ll rarely see me without a wrap during the winter. I love that I can get up in the morning and throw it on before heading downstairs. And the bonus? It feels like I’m wearing a blanket, so the transition from my bed to the rest of the house isn’t so jarring. This wrap from Gilligan and O’Malley (my favorite brand for pajamas) is basically a big flannel sheet. It’s the perfect accompaniment to a soft pair of leggings.

Thank you so much. I developed a lump last weekend on Sunday and thanks to doctor google, determined it was a bartholin cyst, my first.

I dabbed it every day with tea tree oil diluted in fractionated coconut oil. In a few days it had a head. I found this blog and began the sitz baths, apple cider vinegar tabs, vitamin c, serapeptide, coq10, zinc, probiotic, and arginine and after 3 days, it quietly and painlessly drained on its own. It drained Friday, 5 days after its appearance.

I spoke to a doctor about post care follow up specifically wound healing and he said I could have “just” had it surgically drained. No thanks! Thank you for a quick and painless solution to what started out as scary.

Hi..so I have been dealing with this off and on for 2 years…I finally went to the GYN last month cuz the marble sized bump stopped letting me drain it usually once a week. I explained to the Dr. That if I squeezed, liquid ( blood then pinkish liquid ) would drain about 1 inch away from the actual painful bump… I felt to me like a canal has formed . Dr put me on 10 days of antibiotics and sitz baths… I ended up going back cuz the meds did not help and the bump was more sensitive.I was not prepared when she requested that I let her drain it and take a sample…to see if it was infected….holy cow that lancing and draining was painful!
To her surprise the results came back negative…she suggested I keep doing the salt baths and come back in if it got “any worse” so she could take another sample.
Aafter reading all the comments I consider myself lucky that my cyst allows me to drain it 1 or 2 times a week and I feel relief for a bit. I am gonna try some of the suggestions here because I would like to avoid the GYN solution.
Thanks everyone and best of luck in your struggles

I recently got my first cyst little bigger then a marble. I was freaking out didn’t know what was going on and I stumbled upon this page. I was putting different stuff on it trying to figure out what worked and I noticed on day 3 it was coming to a head and I bought Indian Healing Clay and I caked it on and covered it with a gauze and let it dry. By the morning when I pulled it off it started to drain. It feels so much better. The first time I didn’t let it dry enough. The second try dried and when I pulled it off it was oozing but, not enough to fully drain. So, I added some more and when I woke up and pulled it off it started to drain.

Wow, let me first say how grateful I am for this post and all the success stories. I’m 37 and just had my first experience with the bartholin cyst/abscess. This has been the most painful experience…so excruciating. Mine stared about 10 days ago when I noticed my perineal area felt bruised. Within two days it become a full blown cyst the size of a golf ball. I went to my primary, they said sitz baths, prescribed an antibiotic (which was useless), and told me it would start shrinking in 3 days. Day 6, it become so bad that I couldn’t walk, poop, strained to pee, and pain was a 9/10 (because it could probably get worse!) I miraculously got in with my Ob – he drained 50% of it with a giant syringe. He said it was the size of a tennis ball. This was extremely painful, but worth it Bc I had immediate relief. I was able to stand up and walk out of his office. He said if this didn’t go down I I would need to be schedule for surgery. I completely was freaked out.

That night I was able to sleep, still felt a lot of pressure, maybe 6/10 pain, but I could tell it was growing back. Luckily, my bentonite clay, Lucas papaw delivered and I was able to start the salve and guaZe. Day 7, I saw my acupuncturist in the morning, she did a bioscan, prescribed me lymph And liver homeopathics. Within 2 hours my cyst started draining on its own!!! I was sobbing tears of joy!
Here is a list of what worked:

    -No sugar/alcohol
-2tbs apple cider vinegar a day
-4 sitz baths (took the edge off)/day
-Lucas papaw ointment applied around whole cyst after each bath and labia
-Bentanite clay mixed w water soaked guaze and applied it from labia fold to over the entire cyst
-Homeopathic – lymph support, liver detox
    -a lot of water

I highly recommend getting a bioscan – it measures the frequency of your organs then heals the wrong frequency through sound therapy. I think this was the tipping point for my healing. Everything was so stagnant before this treatment. I felt better right after leaving her office. The report showed I had negative movement of lymph drainage in my pelvis region.

I’m continuing the baths and ointment/Bc until this thing is completely drained. I never Ever want to experience this again…worst PAIN EVER! I hope this helps someone! This website has been the most helpful for me. I’m so grateful to avoid vagina surgery!!!

I get these every once in awhile, usually I apply a product called Mayan magic. It’s basically Shea butter with Tepezcohuite. I thought of using it because it brings deep pimple to a head overnight. The first time I tried it, it burned a little for about 10 secs. Then I tried putting a good sized dob on a cotton ball or round cotton pad so it was easier to get right in the cyst, totally worked and no burning. I’ve alway been able to get it to drain within 3 days with this stuff and hot baths. Recently I seemed to have a bit more of a stubborn one, it was also a bit larger than the previous ones so I tried magnesium sulphate paste which for me just seemed to irritate it more and I felt like it actually got bigger. So I tried adding bentonite clay with the Mayan magic. That did soothe it and it went back to its former size. This evening I tried something new, and I think it worked, it just started to drain.! I had some herbal ginger and turmeric tea bags, so drop a little boiling water on one, let it cool a little. It was hot but cool enough to handle. I squeezed out the excess water and put it up against the cyst and left it there for a few hours. The warmth was very soothing a d within a half hour of removing it, the cyst stared to drain.

On the day that my latest Bartholin’s cyst burst, here is the combination of supplements I had been taking:
    -For around 2 weeks:
    Serrapeptase (morning and night)
Silica (started with 3x per day with the homeopathic silica and alternated it with the silica supplements)
-Added these ones 3 days ago:
    Ginger
    CoQ10
    L-arginine
    30 billion probiotic

Also took Vitamin C and Zinc on that day.

I also put a warm compress that was really hot that I think also helped. After the warm compress, I dried the area and put in a layer of polysporin and put a bandage over it. I only removed it when I had to pee. Didn’t replace the bandage anymore.

In the afternoon I took 4 drops of oil of oregano under my tongue to address another issue (I was feeling under the weather) and felt some tingling down there but didn’t think too much of it. At night after dinner I put 5 pellets of the homeopathic silica under my tongue.

When I went to the bathroom after dinner, I saw blood on my underwear coming from the cyst. So glad it started to drain! It’s flattened but not completely flat yet. I did a sitz bath and warm compress and put polysporin on it and a bandage and will leave this throughout the night.

Oh ya and it’s been a habit of mine to drink 2 caps of apple cider mixed with water every morning. (but yet there was still a cyst that emerged, but maybe this habit helped because the cyst didn’t grow big, although it really took a while for it to drain)

Will continue with these supplements until I see that it is gone. Hope that this is the last time I have this cyst, so troublesome.

I had a Bartholin cyst 3 years ago, it was diagnosed by a doctor and since it was small, she just gave me antibiotics and serrapeptase. I continued with the serrapeptase even when the medicine that the doctor gave me ran out. I bought Doctor’s Best 120,000 SPU and after a few weeks, it disappeared. Fast forward to now, I have one again and I’ve been taking Serrapeptase but it isn’t shrinking it at all. I’m also doing warm baths at night but it’s still there. I tried Silica (as other forums seemed to mention that it works, but for some reason, I think it made it bigger (or I’m not sure if it is making it bigger because it will drain soon..) Now I will try the combination mentioned above – ginger, coq10 and l-arginine along with the serrapeptase and I hope it works. As much as possible I don’t want to put anything in that area. While the cyst is not painful, I do feel that it is swelling down there. Not a pleasant feeling at all and it is definitely inconvenient especially during intercourse. I think aside from a diet change, I will really think about what anger or emotional issues I had been holding on to that could be triggering this. I really don’t want to experience this again.

I’m really curious to hear how this is going for you – I’m about 1.5 weeks into sitz baths, serrapeptase & silica 1x daily and nothing seems to be happening except it might actually be bigger. So frustrating. I also recently learned about the emotional aspects of the cause of these cysts and I think you’d like this woman’s IG if you’re interested- @acacianaturalremedies . she posted a video that went into detail about resentment and betrayal and how they can cause these cysts. Anyway good luck!!

Hi Allison, my cyst significantly went down after taking more supplements (serrapeptase, silica, ginger root, coq10 and l-arginine). I just followed whatever the recommended dosage was in the bottles. It drained after three days. Now it’s like a whitehead and no swelling or pain. But it is still there so I am continuing those supplements at the moment (some at a lesser dose). Oh I was also drinking apple, beet and carrot juice then (I saw a video online that mentioned that beet and carrot juice helps prevent it)

I think the silica makes it swell first. I dd the sitz baths too, but not sure if it had any effect, but I did feel relief. The warmth does make the blood rush there so it could also lead to making the fluid come out.

Thanks for sharing the video, I will look for it. Ya I think I do have some leftover emotions from past traumas and was probably triggered maybe that’s why this cyst came out again. I’m quite particular about cleanliness with my body so it’s not likely to be caused by any unhygienic practices in my case. My diet could always be improved so that’s something I have to keep in mind moving forward.

In your case, perhaps you can try the other supplements mentioned here – ginger root, l-arginine and coq10 along with the serrapeptase and silica you are already taking. Oh perhaps also check the dosage of the silica you are taking – I started out just taking 1 per day before but when I checked the bottle the recommended dose was 2 capsules, 2x per day so when I increased my dosage to that there was definitely some improvement. Good luck! I hope it will improve for you soon.

I just developed my first Bartholin’s Cyst three days ago about the size of a small grape. I did Epsom salt baths that seemed to help give some relief but did nothing to change the cyst. I did more research and came across this post. Last night I started taking Apple Cider Vinegar pills, vitamin C and l-arginine. But what I really think helped was a put bentonite clay in a think layer and left it on the cyst over night. This morning it felt really sensitive but I didn’t see a head yet less than two hours later a head had formed! I barely touched it and it popped giving some relief. It hasn’t all gone away and that area is sensitive and I’m sure will continue to drain, but I cannot say thank you enough for this post!
Being able to not have to have it medically drained and be virtually painless was amazing. I am planning to continue the vinegar and vitamins for a bit and may even use the clay again to bring anything else to the surface.
    What a relief!!!
I already have a good diet eating clean paleo with no processed foods which we started around six months ago. I have a feeling this was caused by stress or just the body being weird but so happy I came across this post.

Make sure you’re using a good quality tea tree oil.(WE WERE REQUIRED TO DELETE NAME OF THE OIL BRAND WE LISTED. CALL NUMBER ON POST FOR THAT INFO) Did you read all the other posts from people who tried different things that worked? I added those into this article as people let me know about them. Some had great success with other things. I do hope you find relief soon. I’ll do more research and see if there is any new info on this subject.

I live in Canada, and not much info is available, so I do my research in English and your site is by far the best, most up to date and compassionate with the ladies who are going through this not so fun experience… Thanks again for what you do!!!!
I have had a cyst for 4 years that won’t go away and for the past 6 months has been hurting and swelling with every relationship that I have had to stop completely. I am doing the treatment with bentonite clay, lucas paw and epsom salt, but do you know the quantity of salt and lucas paw compared to the clay?

I found a cyst growing a couple weeks ago and nothing was helping to get rid of it. I tried multiple topical treatments from this article but I found that the only thing that actually worked was getting rid of the cyst from the inside out. I started taking Zinc, L-Arginine, and a women’s probiotic and within four days it was almost completely gone. It’s been almost a week since I started taking the supplements and I can’t even feel the cyst anymore! I just thought I’d share what worked for me because I tried so many remedies that I found to be unsuccessful, but this worked wonders so I highly recommend!

      1. I just got through a cyst that abscessed. Very painful. What finally helped was drawing salve!! Slather it on s gauze pad and put it on the cyst. Your panties should hold it in place I did it overnight, then replaced it in the morning. 3 hours later I took a sitz bath then cleaned it with witch hazel and it burst. Instant relief! It was an abscess so I went to the doctor and got antibiotics.

      Hi Diva!
So sorry to hear that you’re dealing with one of these. Different things seem to have worked for different people. I would read through the main post and then visitor suggestions that have been added into it and pick one that you are able to do easily and start there. Diet plays a huge part in our health so if you can change that also it can help. It’s a matter of testing and finding what works, and giving it enough time to do so. Natural cures, while safer, can take longer. I’m glad you are not in any pain. Hopefully you can take care of it yourself.
      Good luck!

In general that is when instead of just a raised bump, the “contents” aka puss, comes to the top and you can see a white or yellow area on top of the bump.

Take charge of your health! Gain knowledge and research. I discovered that a big part of my problem is good allergies. I’m highly allergic to corn and I went to a corn maze and I think I got my 4th cyst from that. All the corn polling in the air.

I have had this problem for 10 years, my first one was on my right side and after several drainages and catheters and painful days and nights waiting on an obgyn appointment(the area I live obgyn is the only Dr allowed to work on this cyst) I finally seen a Dr and he immediately sent me to the hospital for surgery. They had to put me to sleep and said that it was so bad it had tunnelled and the recovery was horrible, but it is completely gone since they removed the gland. Now I’ve experienced the left side this is the third time it’s came up and is more painful every time. The last time it got as big as an orange and I couldn’t walk, that’s with sitz baths and antibiotics. Now it’s back again and I’ve tried witch hazel, chamomile, callomine, tea trea oil, coconut oil, sitz baths with Epsom salt, and finally went out and bought prid at my local Walgreens for 8 bucks I really hope this works because the pain is unbearable and I’ve tried everything I even tried the apple cider vinegar, I’m changing my diet and drinking more fluids, but I just wish there were more sure preventative measures we could take because it takes so long to get into the Dr the pain and remedies are tiresome and I just want to take a knife to my lady parts and that’s not ok. Hopefully this prid will work. Also my grandmother was Portuguese and told me to use raw potatoe it actually busted my first one but it came back, try the potatoe and good luck.

I’ve gotten my second cyst, it became super painful on monday. Last time I had one was 12 years ago, had it lanced and a catheter. It was one of the most painful things I’ve gone threw. Since monday I’ve been soaking in epsom salt twice a day and putting tea tree oil on a cotton ball with coconut oil. Yesterday, was thursday, I did witch hazel and tea tree, the combination really seemed to burn (but does that mean it was working?). Today I bought PRID, its a drawing salve. I was hoping it would sooth the area as it worked its magic but its not really soothing the area at all. I find coconut oil is more soothing. Its been slowly draining and I just want this to be over. It seems from other people’s stories that they burst and the pain is over, instant relief. Why isn’t this the case for me? Its just been draining so slowly and I can’t quite tell exactly where from. Has anyone else had it take days to completely drain? Thank everyone for sharing your experiences, its making me not feel so all alone right now. Also, I starting taking milk thistle and vitamin c.

I too had mine burst and it’s been draining for days now. I was reading everywhere that women were having instant relief after the burst but mine certainly is still painful, if not more and there is a lot of blood every day (sorry tmi). Would you mind letting me know how long it has taken for yours to completely drain, the aftercare of it also please?

Over 12 months ago my cyst appeared out of nowhere. It was painful at first, then became larger but the pain went away. I consulted my Gyno and she said it’s best to just let it be. I have sense felt self conscious about it but hey what could I do? Fast forward 14 months later it became irritated and I felt the urge to squeeze it and a thick cottage cheese substance begin to come out but it was so sore I couldn’t apply anymore pressure. A few days later I began to apply tea tree oil and it soothed the pain, and brought it to a head .I took a mirror a saw more coming out so I held my breathe and got it all out! I put more tea tree on it and praying it will never return

    Hello!
I got a bartholin cyst when I was 20. In less than a week it grew to the size of a large grape, and was so painful! I went to the hospital and they numbed it, made an incision and drained it. They put a catheter in and it fell out and the cyst returned within a week. (We also learned I’m allergic to narcotic pain killers, so they gave me ibuprofen, which does nothing…)
I went back and instead they injected the local INTO the cyst, increasing its size and causing unbelievable pain. This time, they stuffed it with strips of gauze. They told me if it were to come back again they would have to remove the whole gland. Every time I walked it would move the gauze, every step was painful. Then taking out the gauze myself was a slow, and again, painful process, I couldn’t even believe it…
I’ve lived just fine for 6 years now, thankful that was all behind me. Until today.
It came back and I want to cry right now. I really really really hope one of these work. I wish they would have just taken the gland out. I don’t want to go through all that again…
*another pro tip (I learned AFTER the fact ), is that planned parenthood will take care of your bartholin cyst! Really helpful if you don’t have insurance or don’t want to go to a hospital.

Check out some of the comments on this post as others have had luck with different things. Here’s was not large though. I hope you are able to find some relief. Sometimes is finding the right thing for “you”… but a good vegan type plant based diet is key to any healing. You might juicing carrots and drinking as much as you can afford to do. Organic fresh carrot juice is the basis to several cancer healing protocols so the benefits are many. Also, if you have trouble getting a lot of live greens into your body, like I do, make a green smoothie every day. I do the carrot juice and the green drink daily. Here are two posts on that where I talk about those two things:

Yes!!

It started draining,

I hope this truly helps someone on this thread one day!

    Hi,
I had my first cyst when I was a jr in high school, and my first one was an abscess. The first Dr I went too gave me an antibiotic and told me it should go down, it didn’t, it doubled in size every day. Till it was so painful to move my mom took me to the ER, the ER doctor called the obgyn on call and she gave him instructions to not to touch me because I was so young, I was then in the hospital for 5 days on morphine, with a heating pad while the doctors tried to get the cyst to rupture on its own. They ended up having to do surgery, and put a drain in. At this time is was the size of an orange. I’ve never been in so much pain my life. The gland never fully drained, always the size of a pea, After this I would get a cyst on my right side a week or two before every period, then it would drain on its own. It seemed like it had to do with my hormones, when my gland would swell I knew my period was coming. Finally I had marsupialization after dealing with them for 3 years. I thought I was in the clear after the marsupialization. I started birth control about 3 years ago, I am now 26. I stoped birth control in May, and I am expecting my period, and with that I was horrified to notice my gland ( same gland that I had the marsupialization) is indeed swollen.

Hi, I’ve have bartholin’s cyst probably 4 or 5 times now always on the left side. the first 2 times it drained after a couple warm baths and went away, warm baths will help because the heat relaxes your body and helps you de stress a bit as well as soothing the inflammation. Last time I had it I switch my body wash to dye free, fragrance free and my shampoo and conditioner to all natural, and took probiotic flora supplements and it went away within 2-3 days! after that I didn’t have it for months and now it’s back I’m almost certain it’s from stress this time and it’s the worst it’s ever been (the size of a marble) the skin around it feels so stretched out and it’s very inflamed. I’m going to try the apple cider vinegar capsules this time! fingers crossed because this sucks.

Keep doing the plant based diet, it’s the most important thing a you can do for your health. You missed a big part of this. You need to drain these glands through female ejaculation. My husband and I didn’t discover this till we were in our thirties. It’s so pleasurable. The amount of fluid that drains out is so much, no wonder if your eating the wrong foods and develop a blockage or go through life without ever knowing about this you become a cesspool of bacteria and disease. Eat well and clean your lymph.

Don’t think you got a reply Christi. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. From what I’ve learned and read it just goes away on its own… slowly… when the dietary changes and supplements are used. For something severe you might need to have your doc drain it and then start the healthy eating and supplements. I know what it’s like to not care for your doctor. I’ve had some pretty horrific experiences with various ones. Wishing you healing!

I went bike riding 3 days in a row (I’m not sure of this is the cause of it) but today NOW it’s a size of a lemon . I’m in crucial pain. Couldn’t go anywhere today . It’s so swollen & hard and so large more than ever. So I showered and after with a cotton ball I’m rubbing braggs organic apple cider vinegar on the ball and the pain seems much better and I placed an onion it’s been an hour & I feel like the swelling & pain went down a little . Hope this helps. Also can you please tell me what food effects the cyst & ways to prevent it from coming back? Please help !!!!! It’s been 3 years .

Hi Michelle… those things can be miserable for sure. I hope you’ve been able to keep the size down. As far as food… healing of any type generally requires a more plant based diet. Fruits, veggies, grains, nuts, beans etc. Cutting way back on processed foods, meats, dairy etc. Eating the right foods can heal many things. One thing I do religiously is I have a green drink every morning as I’m not a big raw veggie and salad eater. That gets a HUGE amount of live nutrients into my body from dark greens. And made right it tastes great! My basic recipe is here: https://craftyourhappiness.com/2016/03/09/green-smoothie-recipe/ Good luck!

    Hi!
I just wanna share my experience. I had a Bartholin’s abscess last week for the first time. It was so painful I couldn’t walk, so I did warm salt baths immediately though I wasn’t sure what was happening and was trying to calm down. After my own reading, I figured it could be Bartholin’s, but I’m no doctor, so I went to my gp asap to confirm. He gave me antibiotics and told me to continue my remedies for a couple of days and come back if I think I need more than just self-care (draining). I tried everything, you name it (including the calamine+tea tree+witch hazel). I don’t know if it’s the combination of all those or just this one remedy, but 30 minutes ago, I cut ginger root into flat pieces and pressed it against my cyst for about 15 to 20 minutes, rested, then repeated. It was about the size of a marble, but now just a pea! I can’t believe it! I’ll do another one now to completely get rid of it. Best regards! I hope this helps someone else!

The first one was the worst as dint know what this was. All three times it’s drained through antibiotics. Mine has been internal all 3 times. And was told it was an abscess. Yesterday when I met the gyno she told me this term & I wanted to do my research too. I got my first one 5-6 yrs ago. Then last year & this year again. It had been painful always & so uncomfortable. This time I was very emotional as I was told if doesn’t go will have to do surgery. And I dint want to do that as I do not have kids yet. Please advice how to stop this from coming. Diet wise I’m told to avoid sugar, rice , potato. Keep the vaginal are clean. Exercise & drink 3 litres water. Add probiotics. I have been saved this 3rd time & I don’t want it to ever come back . Please suggest.

Hello, I’m currently dealing with two painless bartholin cysts. One is pea size and the other one is like a marble size. I was trying this, but didn’t helped. Hopefully it will help you. Mine was growing and becoming painful. I had antibiotics what actually didn’t helped very much either and had word catheter. That helped to clean (but it depends on a doctor how well he/she can placed it). but after a while it came back (I had 8 cysts during 4 months!) so what helped me: I have changed the diet (eating more alkaline), had for two weeks grapeseeds extract (mine was strong!)- increasing every day the dosage, and once that was done had two weeks black walnut hulls tincture (1 tbs at the morning and evening). so now it’s almost 3 months no cysts! But I will repeat pretty soon again with black walnut hulls tincture (it’s known by very high dosage of vitamin C, natural antibiotic and etc). Apple vinegar is very alkaline, what is good for health. But think once the bartholyn cyst is not at the beginning stage that will probably not help.
Hope thins information gonna be helpful for you!

Not saying everyone may have this who has a cyst, but my painful reoccurring cysts that
lasted off and on for 8 years!
was due in part to an underlying illness called Primary Immunodeficiency.
I was diagnosed a few years after my marsupialization when I put 2 and 2 together.
It’s basically your born with a faulty
      immune system genetically, and
prone to all sorts of infections,
      including skin.
And yes, stress can bring cysts about
and that stress then lowers the immune system which in turn can’t allow it to
help fight off the nasties of the cyst!
I did get marsupialization done and it did
      cure everything! No more abscesses!
However if you get marsupialization done, just
make sure to tell your doc you want the
most minimum size hole left there, so stitch
      it up good!
