Need some quick DIY bookends? Grab a couple of CDs or DVDs and a candle and you’ll have them in less than 5 minutes!  Though these are short they hold fairly decent sized books as you can see in the photo. These would be fun for kids books too as you can decorate them up all kinds of fun ways with paint and/or labels. I did a quick spray paint on mine and put on a sticker. Directions and a video below!

DIY Bookends Instructions

Make a line where you want to bend the CD. I make mine a little over half way.  Exactness is not necessary here.

The key is to make sure you move the CD or DVD over the flame in the exact spot you want it to bend. It can barely touch the flame. Make about 1 second swipes. It takes about 30 seconds to get hot enough to bend. Overbend it and then adjust it back quickly to where you want it. After it cools the soot on the back wipes right off.

I made several of these today and they worked great! I even used this to fix a picture frame that had lost the back stand. Bent the CD and duct taped it to the back. Worked perfectly.
